Snow forecast - 1st January 2016 Posted on Tuesday, December 29, 2015
|Snow is forecast for New Year's Day across the Alps|
Meterologists tell us that the Alps are due to receive some welcome snow from New Year’s Eve and into the first days of 2016. There are several centimetres predicted over the course of several days in La Tania and the Courchevel Valley.
Mid-range weather models show that this should be the start of a colder period which coupled with an increase in precipitation means: snow!
Currently in the Courchevel Valley we have 44 out of 54 lifts open, with the truly amazing pisteur teams having made, moved and maintained enough snow to open 48 pistes.
The snowfall predicted won’t cover off-piste rocks but it will be great for topping up the pistes.
Being North-facing as well as high in altitude has been a huge bonus to the skiing in Courchevel as it means the warm weather hasn’t melted away the lower snow to such an extent as other resorts.
